Coincidentally, I mentioned The Vanishing on the "Harshest Movie Ending" thread. Excellent film....infinitely superior to the Hollywood remake.

yeah, I saw it 10 years ago on channel 4. It was miles better than the remake.

Oh yes, it's really, really good - very taut, tense and creepy. The ending is superb.

The re-make was rubbish, mainly becasue they completly ripped up the orginal ending to give it a 'hollywood' ending.

I hunted everywhere for it on DVD and had to buy it on VHS instead. Well worth watching.
