Anyone else into 70's/80's disaster movies?

It was on ITV Nighttime a few years ago. It was hilarious, the cast getting attacked by polystyrene balls and the train crash scene where the train rolled down the hill for about five minutes.

Earthquake was on the SCI-FI channel on Saturday afternoon. No doubt they will repeat it about 50 times in the next few weeks.

I cannot believe how poor Michael Caine is in 'the Swarm'...possibly the worst piece of acting i have ever seen. It's a must for all lovers of unintentionally funny retro films....
 
The Towering Inferno has been available on dvd for years.
The original R1 release had 5.1 sound but was not anamorphic,while the UK release was,but only had standard surround.
The new release(last week) is on R1 only.
While The Poseidon Adventure will be out on R2,UK release rights for Towering Inferno are held by Warner,and its Fox who are releasing the 2 disc sets in the US,so you may have to get R1 for TTI.
The Swarm was a bit of an Irwin Allen disaster in more ways than one.
However,the DVD release is of the extended tv version and contains about 40 minutes of extra footage not seen on Sky Cinema or on tv before.
Of course,most will say its long enough already
 
I love watching the fabulously dressed cast flapping around in their flares in the '70s films.Earthquake and Victoria Principals flared up, afro haired character springs to mind. Does anyone else think its easy to spot who will be next to die in these films?

Don't recall seeing The Swarm shown on ITV ever,certainly not networked anyway.
The BBC screening and recent showings on Sky Cinema have all been of the theatrical version thats just under 2 hours.
The 90's VHS release aswell as the dvd is over 2.5 hours long
 
I'm very excited today because i'm expecting a brand new shiny 'Juggernaut' DVD to come falling through my letterbox.....Oh joy!!! It's one of my favourites of this genre....
