Hey, I have no problem if someone likes the WNBA. It's not my thing, but I don't care if someone else likes it. However, I have problems with WNBA fans picking on the NBA, making false generalizations and flat-out, hypocrytic lies.
I've heard them say BS like NBA is all dunks, one-on-one, no defense, no fundamentals, etc. They accuse those who love the NBA and not the WNBA as sexists, and claim they are all about the basketball and not gender. Yet, would they watch a men's league that plays at the WNBA level? Of course not. You tell me who's sexist.
And yet, think about the most recent NBA champions and MVPs when you hear all-about-dunking, no-fundamentals, etc. Only one Finals MVPs since the Lakers 2000-02 three-peat played above the rim (D-Wade in 2006). The 2010 Lakers only has three rotation players that play above the rim, and only Gasol is seen in crunch time.
The last few Finals MVPs (Bryant, Pierce, T. Parker, Wade, Duncan, Billups) won the teams and individual accomplishments because of superior fundamentals, team play and with the exception of Parker, defense.
The NBA, despite its horrible officiating, is the planet's greatest basketball league because of fundamentals, teamwork and defense, all of which is far superior to the WNBA's. That, combined with outer-worldly athleticism, makes WNBA fans feel so sick, they have to bash the NBA. But the athleticism and above-the-rim play doesn't make the NBA what it is, at least not at the championship-caliber level. It's the fundamentals, teamwork and defense.
Why is everyone bashing the WNBA? I clearly stated I have no issues with the WNBA. My issues are with a large percentage of WNBA fans, who go out of their way to unfairly bash the NBA. The WNBA can let be. Their fans are a different issue.
PS. Lil tsunami, I highly doubt any WNBA player could mop the floor with them. I played D-2 ball 10 years ago, and I consider myself a better player today because I'm stronger, smarter and a better shooter, though not nearly as athletic.
