When my PS3 is hooked to my LCD HDTV through composite everything is fine, except for how ugly everything looks. When I connect it via HDMI, the video is amazing, but the sound gets all staticy during certain times.

many have been experiencing funky stuff involving hdmi.

in my case, 1080p works flawless, sound and picture is amazing.

then i try to play resistance, so kool it downgrades to 720p since the game supports up to that, but then the picture is static crazy, best way to describe is silver sparkles everywhere the blacks should be.
go down to 480p and it works fine...... i dont get it!! i want to play resistance at 720p, it looks almost as good as 1080 even on the 42" tv.

make sure on the HDMI setting u have it setup to ur tvs output.

I have a 32" samsung lcd that only goes to 720p. Well my HDMI was set to 1080p and my screen keeped making startic sound and screen when it would start the games. Once i changed the hdmi ouput to 720p it went away, and it looks really good.

i'm having the same problems, but not during gameplay, its when it goes from the main menu into the game, as soon as the ps3 sign comes on, it goes all staticky and shit and makes wierd noises, but when the start up menu on the game comes, the static goes away, i thought the hdmi cable was a cheapo, since i got it free w/ a dvd player, but i havent tried another one out...

also, on the main menu, it says resolution is at 1080i but when the games on it goes down to 720p, but i figured thats what the game supports so i didnt think much of it untill some of you said that your gameplay is at 1080i, could it be something w/ the ps3 thats messed up, its not the tv as it supports 1080i and 1080p

depends on the game. not all games support 1080p, in fact only a handful do at the moment, try the GTHD demo for a sure check.

also, while you may think your tv supports 1080p, it may not. one more thing, run it at 720p, its better than 1080i and you wont notice much if any difference than 1080p unless you have a 40"+ tv.
