Greetings...
I'm quite happy with my N73 (still before N95), and I rarely have problems such as Hang-out when switching off the camera, reset when writing an SMS...I'm not saying the don't happen but they are so rare...
my firmare details are:
v2.0628.0.0.1
10-07-2006
RM-133
Nokia N73 (08)

I would like to know other N73 owners experiences in upgrading this firmware to a more updated one...does it worth it? does it solve any annoying stuff that we all faced with N73? or it it unworthy to risk your phone for? is it better to stay with the factory-released firmware...

Thanks a lot

1. updating your firmware with the....er.....options available is not risky. The only people who "bricked" their phones doing it are the ones who either A. didn't do the other installation stuff correctly or B. touched their phone while it was going. It's not risky.

2. It IS factory released firmware. That's the only kind of firmware there could be. It's just not publicly available firmware.

3. I've done it to mine, and honestly didn't notice a difference. the only reason I did it is for the bluetooth fix, mine wouldn't stay connected to my GPS unit, and now it does. Other than that, there's no noticable differences.

It just goes from 2.0628.0.0.1 to 2.628.0.0.3. If you know anything about how they number software and such, you know that's a VERY small update. If you're not having problems, (which I wasn't, save for the bluetooth) then it's really more of a hassle installing and uninstalling all the software you need. Not risky at all, just a pain.

Nokia Hasn't put out any Firmware Update for this phone yet.

So I don't see why do it right now, It doesn't fix anything.. The only thing you can do for now is change the region of the phone!

That's all..

Its Psychology thinking if you update the firmware it will fix the problem..

Until Nokia put out that new firmware for this phone. Nothing will get fix!

That is why Its called firmware update in the 1st place.

You, my friend, are mistaken. Using the same exact SIM, same GPS receiver in the same position, driving on the same roads, with the same software running, before the firmware update, i could MAYBE hold the connection for 3-5 minutes. I contacted Wayfinder, who worked with Nokia and notified me that this firmware solved the problem and that it would be publicly available soon. Not wanting to wait (and having already updated the firmware on two N80's myself) I got the software needed and performed the update. Now I can drive on the same roads, same phone, same GPS, same everything, and it has yet to lose the connection.

So yes, it DOES fix SOMETHING.
