Anybody using the E70-2 ??

I haven`t heard much about this phone since after it came out and everybody seemed to be complaining about it. I have several devices that I use, but I always seem to come back to my E70-2.
After doing the F/W upgrade via the nokia site I have had very few issues with this phone. I downloaded a push e mail for exchange and used it for awhile, worked well. I tried opera mobile but thought it too slow, so I dumped it for good ol opera mini, which is really fast. The nokia browser works much better with the upgrade. I use it alot. My RF is some of the best I`ve had with a phone. Voice quality is very good, I almost never drop a call. I love the compactness of the phone and the way the keyboard folds away, out of site.
I don`t understand why I `ve heard people call this phone a big brick. I think the size is good. As far as memory issues , I don`t download everything under the sun, I seldom run short of memory and when I do if I delete my history storage I`m fine again. I would love to hear from other E70-2 users who are using/loving this phone............ My .02 cents only

Thanks for the reply Boston guy. You have a 9300b as well? So do I. Love the form factor of it also. Was wondering what you use for a case. I found one for a 9500 when I was in Germany but the 9300b sort of swims in it. Was thinking of padding it with felt on the inside to tighten it up a bit. Love the way you can set this phone on a tabletop and use it like a laptop.

Thanks for replying mtbiac. I think you`ll like it, but the F/W upgrade is a must if yours doesn`t already come with it. I had the n80 for awhile and I really liked it except for no qwerty. I won`t buy a phone anymore without qwerty, a hide-able qwerty.

i've heard some horror stories about people trying to upgrade firmware and bricking their phone, then nokia taking MONTHS to get it fixed...is this still a problem or what? I mean I can live with some differences if I have the older f/w in exchange for not risking rendering the phone useless hehe...

oh and I used to own an E61 for a month or so, sold it because (at the time) it was too much phone and I found it a tiny bit bulky. LOVED symbian and all the features though!!

I haven't had any issues using NSU. I've updated a number of phones.

I believe the bricked phones were one model (that I can't recall now) that had a bad fw on the updater, totally Nokia's fault.

Yeah, I`ve heard those horror stories as well. I had no issue doing it tho. Worked perfectly. The web browser closing on me without warning was my big reason for doing the upgrade. It still will shut down once in a while, but rarely. There`s always iunlock. I had them do my 9300 recently. Big improvement by the way.

As far as not having 3g on the E70-2. Would a current 3g enabled phone work with the new t-mobile 3g network (n80 for example is 3g enabled) when it is finally rolled out. Or do we all need to upgrade our handsets even if we have 3g on a current device? Are the frequencies t-mo will be using on their new 3g network compatible with current 3g enabled phones? I will def be holding off on any new phone purchases untill t-mo has their 3g up and running.

Unfortunately, no. New handsets will have to be produced for use on T-Mobile's 3G network. I believe it'll be using 1700 initially, and then 2100 (not to be confused with Euro 2100).

I'm actually looking into buying an E70-2 and the cheapest place I could find one so far was on buy.com (http://www.buy.com/prod/Nokia_E70_Unlocked_Cell_Phone_GSM_Bluetooth_2MP_MiniSD/q/loc/101/203202268.html).

Anyone know of anywhere cheaper? Plemix and importgsm both sell the 900mhz version and ebay seems empty...

my seems fine for me, reception has been fantastic. only problems i had were of disappearing apps/games/pics/videos which i am 90% sure it's due to my minisd card.

size is awesome, much more smaller and lighter than i expected. only downside i have to say is that the chrome parts on the side attracts fingerprints very easily and is very prone to scratches. also i find that the loudspeaker could be louder.

but all in all, definately one of the best phones i've ever used/owned

I got my E70-2 through Buy.com. It was on a Google checkout special and a little cheaper at the time, but still the cheapest price I have seen for the E70-2. Really fast shipping.

The only real issue I seem to have is that once in a while bluetooth goes a little wonky. Fast power cycle fixes that when it happens.
