Anybody sick of a legitimate art form such as acting being bastardized?

why would someone on here ask "How do I become an actor/actress?" Is it because they enjoy character development, analyzing motives, and truly becoming another person?

That's most likely not the case. Now is it because in their minds they see acting as getting in front of a camera and looking good?...
 
It's both.

And I think you need both.

Many people dream of being on stage and becoming someone else, and enjoy doing it.

But you also need the passion and drive to get in front of the camera/ audience to make your dream become a reality.

And they ask, because everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame, nowadays, and with so much competition, they want to know how to become the best and really make their dreams come true.

I see nothing wrong with asking that.
It's actually following through the advice you are given that i doubt some people do.
