Anybody know about ford AC fan switchs that fail?

I have a 2004 crown victoria with the advanced climate controls the fan doesn't come on when I switch on the AC, I hear the compressor clicking on but no fan. I smelled some electronics burning shortly before the failure any ideas what went wrong?
I have another ford with manual AC controls and the fan switch was bad, Im wondering if that could be the same problem here.

where can I get info on the automatic climate control stuff?
 
Sounds like a short in the climate control head unit. It could also be a blown motor. Does it blow air at any other settings?

I hope it is the motor that is bad, those head units are pricey
 
the blower motor is bad i just changed one out of my grandmas lincoln it did the same thing
