I'll start from the beginning and try to make it short...I have a 1999 dodge neon.I was going down the road at about 70 mph when my friend, who was sleeping, kicked my shift into reverse..well i freaked out and threw it in park. after this is when all my problems started. a few days later my car wouldn't start for me then at times i would put it in neutral and it would start. well i brought it to a mechanic and he said it was a battery cable loose and he fixed it....well it still kept doing it. finally my bf talked to someone and they said it was my neutral safety switch. he fixed it and it drove great for about 2 weeks...then it started doin it all over again. it started off only doing it when i drove my car for a long time then turned it off and it wouldn't start. well it got to the point where it wasn't starting at all UNLESS you pushed it backwards then cranked it. ever body i told this to has never heard of pushing a car backwards to make it start. i brought it to another mechanic and of course he claimed it was a wire he needed to replace. i got it replaced and my car drove great for about 3 days....GUESS WHAT?? its doing it again!! i gotta push it backwards for it to start!! also when its in park it revs up like it wants to go sometimes....does anybody out there know what is going on with this car of mine???
yes i have told 2 different mechanics and they have no clue what the deal is. they laughed when i told them I had to push it backwards to get it to start. So will i need a whole new tranny? I just spent almost $500 on that car for them to fix the engine and transmission mounts and the "wire" that they claim was the reason my car was doin that.
