Anybody else pleased The Hurt Locker did so well at the BAFTAs?

Well, many media reviewers say it is grittingly realistic, some soldiers say otherwise.

I know its wiki, but that section has citations and quotations from veterans.

Also, I must stress I do not claim all veterans feel this way.

Am I happy that another USA military gung-ho war movie, with completely unrealistic, fantasy scenes won the award? No....

Oh hang on... wasn't it the Hurt Locker?
:)

Nice one Kablamo, well, judging by some of the responses from those servicemembers on the link I must agree with your last point. In any case, from an outsiders point of view I guess I can forgive any so called inaccuracies and just enjoy the film.

check the imdb pages. reviews suggest either 'brilliant film-making' to 'too many inaccuracies' from the military types... theres no middle ground..

i found it pretty boring tbh.

Yes, I'm pleased it did so well at the BAFTA'S. It was a very good film and most of the time I was sitting on the edge of my seat!
Incidentally, I once watched a documentary about this subject and it wasn't far off from the Hurt Locker.

I like Avatar and I like The Hurt Locker but Avatar doesn't deserve to win anything outside visual FX. Bad dialogue and a plot done a million times before. The Hurt Locker was very tense and deserved to win more than Avatar as it already has enough.
