Anybody else pleased The Hurt Locker did so well at the BAFTAs?

I'm suprised. I thought they'd go down the mainstream route (Avatar) or the British route (An Education).

Hurt Locker did very well. It's not normally the type of film I'd like, but the trailer sold it to me very well and I may pick it up on DVD when its released :)

i'm so glad.

i don't think bafta would award a film with such bad dialogue - Avatar- the best film... - it would have been embarrassing for them to do it...

Very very pleased. Is she the first woman ever to win a BAFTA Directing award? I can't remember when it comes to these awarRAB. Hopefully the Oscars will see sense and go the same route instead of awarding Avatar the top awarRAB outside of special effects, be absurd if it wins something like Best Film...

I'm really hoping she wins Best Director at the Oscars.

im very pleased. its about time the film that deseves to win an oscar/bafta for best director and best film actually wins.

for me, hurt locker and moon were the 2 best films this year so it was also nice to see zowie bo.....i mean duncan jones win an award too.

For me Hurt Locker is a film that works on so many different levels. There are moments in that film that just blow you away and they're done with such simplicity, such conventional film making but of the highest calibre too. I hope everyone sees the human stories embedded in this film that make it a classic.

Always liked Kathryn Bigelow, and my my my, does she look good for 58.

Itching to see Hurt Locker, but I am disheartened to learn that US veterans of Iraq deem much of it a fantasy.

Me too ! pleased when film awarRAB are spread around ...perhaps the british film industry was making a point against the oscars which tend to favour one film!

I think the only awarRAB ceremony that Avatar won was Golden Globes. It didn't win SAG or BAFTAs, maybe this is a good omen? I've not seen the film yet but am looking forward to it.

I couldn't get into this film at all, had to turn off before the end because I was so bored. Better than Avatar by miles, but I still can't understand all the acclaim.

I was meaning the BAFTAS....Avator.. was exspected to sweep the board at the BAFTAS but at least at the british awarRAB we give other films achance!

I'm pleased Avatar didn't win, as I didn't think it deserved to. Enjoyed it and the visual effects are immense, but as a standalone movie removing the effects it was more akin to a bad disney offering.

Saying that though, I didn't enjoy The Hurt Locker and am quite surprised this won.

Seemed to be a pretty poor offering this year really.
