need for speed V8

i'm taking a couple friends with me next year to go cross country from New Jersey to the pacific ocean in Washington in a 1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer. I am aware of the gas mileage but it has a 32 gallon tank which should give some good range. Anybody ever done this before and give an answer on the comfort and consistency of the truck. Also is there upgrades like exhaust and engine upgrades to increase the gas mileage by at least 5 to 10 mpg? Thanks.
