I have a Trek 8000 police bike and I'm finally getting off my A$S to ride it. So far I've put about $200 bucks into fixing it and now I've hit the final problem, I need a seat stalk. I have an old 10 speed so I thought I could use that but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, the Trek hole is bigger. I saw a new one on eBay but the guy selling it doesn't know if it will fit. Only thing he said is it's 26.6mm.... Yeah that helps me so does anybody know if a 26.6mm stalk will work with this bike? I can't measure it so don't suggest that. I'm an American and we don't use that metric crap! LOL

Take it to a bike shop. I hope you have metric tools othwise you are really going to be hurting when it comes to bikes, auto's and just about anything else. If you have the old seat post the size should be printed on it.

Well of course we use that "metric crap." Everyday. You just don't realize it.

Most rulers have a metric scale. Find yourself one and measure the inside diameter of your seat tube.

If you don't have a set of measuring calipers, you won't be able to easily tell 26.6mm from 26.8mm. I think the bike shop is your next stop; after the donut shop, of course! Have fun.
