Any tips on negotiating with T-Mobile?

I'm trying to negotiate a new contract with T-Mobile. My 1-year contract ended a couple months ago. In a nutshell, I'm trying to get a Blackberry Pearl with a 1-year contract for $100 (normal price is $150). One of my friends was able to get this price from AT&T, but I'd like to stay with T-Mobile so I don't have the hassle of transferring my service. I did threaten to cut off service, so the rep spoke to her supervisor and still refused to sell me the phone for $100. I also offered to purchase $30-40 worth of accessories, and also tried the other way around, where I buy the phone for $150 and they throw in $50 of accessories for free. Seems like they don't care much about accessory sales, though. Are there any pointers you guys can give me? A certain department I should ask to be transferred to?

Thanks for all the help

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~dont know about tmo but att price matches brick and mortar store like best buy walmart that kinda stuff may wanna ask if they do the same

price matching probably wont work, i've only seen price matching done if there was some wierd price discrepancy with tmobile.com... not with any other company or reseller or online reseller

you can try the i'll cancel threat, but to be quite honesti knw t-mobile is going to this and i think eventually all the companies are going to this....
they are trying to make the wireless experience the same for everyone, everyone all gets the same price and treated the same. they are trying to move away from wheelin' and dealin'

You know a while back I was ready to get a new phone and Tmobile wouldn't help out to make it the price I wanted. I threatened to leave and still nothing. So I waited for my contract to end then called to cancel, and low and behold, before talking to someone to help cancel my contract they pitched another phone to me... something a little better than what I had in mind... at the payment I wanted.

You can try this but if what Jonny says is true they might just say... whatever. My suggestion... do a 2 year contract and you can get the Pearl for $150 after mail-in rebate. Thats what I did and I love my Pearl... I can't think of wanting to get anything else.... but I'm sure someday I'll eventually upgrade again

i mean not to knock any one but this is how i look at it....when you go shopping at any other retail store, do you say oh by the way i've been shopping here or a customer here for (enter amount of time here) and i should get it for this price...or if you don't give it to m for this price then i'm leaving.

most places will say oh okay, well that's fine, because there are still millions of other people to buy there product , or because in the long run that store has a better deal than there competition. well that's how the wireless industry looks like it's shaping into. Remember the wireless company has to keep a few things in mind, their interest, the customer's interest, and the manufactorers interest. so if we keep knocking everything down in price the phone makers are going to stop selling to us or give us handsets that are cheaper, or not to many features because we are constantly discounting them to real low prices, the also have to keep in mind that their business needs to make money for it not to get eaten up by a competitor, and it also has to keep in mind the interest of the customer.....so where's the happy medium???

Why do you think the U.S is about what 6...7...maybe 8 years behind the rest of the world. he free phone concept. Over seas, at least from what I've always understood it to be you pay full cost or near full cost for a device, the rules might be changing over there a bit but that's one reason why they are ahead of us.

Like I said earlier I'm not knocking anyone at all, and i understad getting something for a great deal. just think about it.

I'm really suprised that they did not give it to you for $100 if your contract is up! They have given me so many credits it's not funny! Just be persistant with them, usually if you sign a new contract they will give you a discount. They might make you sign a 2 year but if you'll be with them for awhile it's probably worth it!
