Any tips for sore fingers from guitar playing?

I'm just learning to play guitar and the fingers on my left hand are really sore. Any tips for the pain would be appreciated.
 
My Sister Always Has That, She Uses This Plectrum Which Attatches To Her Finger So It Doesn't Hurt As Much (:

If Not I'd Try Wearing Plasters When Playing The Guitar (:
