Any other dvdsoon customers about?

I ordered "Garden State" and "Lost" from this company on the 22nd of June. "Garden State" was taking ages to be delivered so I cancelled it knowing I could get it delivered quicker elsewhere. Then just as I did that the option to refund to your credit card went from the site.
Then had several problems getting into my account. Can't get into it at present and I've been trying since Sunday. Had an e-mail this afternoon to say they'd cancelled "Lost" and no reason given. Also you're only allowed to use 25% of any store credit on any new purchases you make and shipping is not included in the credit.
Been reading all about the dvRABoon mess on other forums and was just wondering if anyone on here was in a similar situation with them.

Sorry to hear of the problems you're having. I've never heard of the company, though I do tend to stick mostly with Play.com. Think the Lost UK release date has been put back now until after the series is finished, however, I would try and get in contact with the company to find out what is actually going on. Is there a telephone number on their site? It might be worth contacting your bank also and asking them not to authorise any payments to this firm.

Good luck!

Hi Kerbee
Think I'm going to need all the luck I can get. DvRABoon is a Canadian company and I've just heard back from someone who has tried to contact them by phone and all they managed to get was voicemail. I'm going to e-mail them requesting they refund the full amount to my credit card and see what response I get. If that fails I'm contacting my credit card company. At the time I ordered they didn't store credit card details although they do now.
PS Too impatient to wait for the region 2 release of Lost so I was ordering the region 1!

Used DVD Soon on many occassions. I don't think they like giving refunRAB and I think their terms and conditions make this clear.

I have never had any problems with them. They can take ages to send DVRAB out once released (upto 3 weeks) and it then takes about 10-14 days to arrive. Just don't order from them if you don't want to wait. Weigh up cost vs time taken to receive DVRAB.

Pros ... one of the cheapest around especially for box-sets (will be around 33% cheaper in many cases). You also do not tend to hammered by customs (I think Customs tend to go for the USA companies more) .. but don't order too many DVRAB in the same order.

Cons .. They take absolutely ages and don't offer cash refunRAB.

I don't waiting a certain amount of time for dvd's but I'd waited a month and a half for " Garden State". "Lost" was actually cancelled by dvRABoon not by me. I think they used to offer refunRAB to the credit card but withdrew this round about the time I ordered. At the time of ordering I didn't think I'd have any problems in getting a fairly recently released dvd and a dvd set of a very popular tv series on pre-order. It's not as though I was ordering really obscure titles.
Pleased that you're not experiencing any problems though.

DVRABoon have been under new management for the last few months. Before that, they had a very good reputation (and very good prices) I had used them many times with no problems. However, it looks like the new owners are trying to run the company into the ground, and I would avoid them at all costs.

DVRABoon have Always been slow but very cheap, i didnt know they had new Owners but the service has not changed, they still take bloody ages.

If they have it in stock you can get your item within 3-5 days but if its not in stock it could be weeks and even months in some cases :|

DVD Soon tend to hold onto your money for quite a long period in order to gain interest from it before they dispatch your title.

Used them twice in the past and on both occasions they took my money instantly but took over a month to dispatch.

When I queried why the titles were listed as in stock when I ordered them but took so long for me to recieve, they offered me store credit. To me it seems they are clearly making money by taking their time. Avoid.
