Hi

I have just downloaded DVD Decrypter to make a backup copy of a DVD I have that is pretty badly scratched. The program seems pretty simple to use and the information has transfered from the disc fine considering the damage.

But is there a way that I can get it to compress the data so that it will fit on a 4gb disc as the finished result enRAB up at over 6gb.

Thank you for your help.

Do a google search for DVD Shrink.
That should do pretty much exactly what you're trying to do.
In fact, you can use DVD Shrink to backup directly from DVD without decrypting it first.....

You need something like DVRABhrink.

You can get information from www.doom9.org/mpg/[url] and open link below. dvRABhrink31-main.htm Edit :Too slow :o

Unless it's a more recent dvd with encryption that DVD Shrink cant crack. If thats the case crack it with Decrypter first then shrink after that.

The reason for this being that Shrink isn't being updated whereas Decrypter is.

Thats what it is then beacuse DVD Shrink rejected it so I tried decrypter i thought it was because of the damage. So if i put the files on my harddrive and then open them with shrink this should work?

Yes. But if the disc is damaged then it wont decrypt as Decrypter or Shrink will skip files/areas. Both are quite sensitive to scratches.

However should it simply be a case of copying a retail/rental dvd as opposed to making a backup of a "damaged" disc then you should have no problem.....

PM me if you need any more help.

The method of using decrypter and DVD Shrink has worked fine thank you all for your help.

I would just like to add in reply to your comment that I do own the orginal disc, and don't wish to copy retail DVD's.
