there are plenty of non-combat military jobs. actually pretty much any job you can get as a civillian, there is a place for it in the military. the military is a really smart way to go. talk to a recruiter. However, simply because it is the military, there is always tons of training. but, thats just so that you know your stuff. I wouldnt do national gaurd.. I dont really see the point. you have to go through basic all the same, and are forced to get a regular job on top of working the one weekend a month thing.. why not just join full time.. free housing, lots of other benefits..

If you are joining hoping that you won't see action, you are better off to not join. Look at the FOrt Hood shooter - he thought he had a non-deployable job and lost his mind when he found out he would deploy.

However, you might consider aircraft maintenance because they usually work in the hangars and never go outside the wire.
