Cherokee Jeep 4x4 ,v.8? Its because I bought one not to long ago and Ive been having some trouble with it ever since. I know its old a 1994 but it looked nice and taken care of but the belt keeps coming off and well i had to replace a round thingy part of or a pully and well it makes this chirping bird sound, anyway im down to three belts and we found a broken part that was making the whole pully system unbalanced and i dont know bout cars so my grammer may be hard to understand but if any of you out there have known jeeps to have problems like this let me know, I guess i have to order the broken part from a manufacturer, its screwed onto the engine then somehow close to the power steering fluid thingy. oh i dont even know if you understand. but are jeeps worth it ??
Oh it sometimes locks on me like when I unlock my door and get in it I put in the key to start it and its locked so what i do now is get out and put the key in my door again and unlock my door again and then it works but why does this happen? or if i try and unlock my passenger door the alarm goes off, so i now only unlock it threw my driver side. the rest is all good every else works great......but im going crazy...with all these little things

You may have an incorrectly installed power steering pump or an incorrectly intalled alternator. Any misalignment of these components will cause excessive wear on a "belt" A mechanic could have done something as simple as left out a spacer or a couple washers. Have someone check for all the components are installed with the proper spacers, so that the "belt" is on a level plane. Sometimes you can tell just by looking at the belt from the side. The Chirping Bird sound can be caused from over tightening the belt or the belt being too loose. It needs to have the proper tension. A belt that is too tight can destroy the water pump, alternator, or power steering pump. Also you did not specify if you have air conditioning or not. The A/C compressor also runs off of the fan (or serpentine) belt. I would check for alignment of components run off the "belt", and it's tightness.

I've had a 95 grand cherokee for 9 years now, Im not sure about the first problem, but my alarm was going off at strange times so i took the remote off my key chain and kept it in the house and it never happened again. otherwise i havent had any other problems, I love my jeep.

If your only replacing small items such as a belt tensioner or a idler pulley, on a 15 year old vehicle than yes it's worth it. It's when you have to start replacing transmissions, then consider a different vehicle. Jeeps are known for transmissions that are not very reliable.

To you second problem, I've never heard of a ignition switch locking up. See your local Jeep dealer to see if there has been any recalls on the vehicle that you have.
