any mechanics answers please....?

okay both my front door locks will not open from the inside. the handles on the passenger and driver side door broke off (inside) but I can still open it from the outside. I was told I needed some type of rod for this. Is that correct?

95 gmc suburban
 
if you still have the inside handles then you need the rod that goes from the handle down to the door latch.
 
GM is famous for this problem yes you have to take the door panels off to fix them but be careful not to damage the clips
