I'm really inclined to purchase this car, but I need to know a little more about it. I know a little about cars but don't understand all the mumbo jumbo on the website about mpg and ratings.

So any information you can provide please! also:

Does the 2009 have a sunroof? Are there any 2-door?
Can it run on gasoline as well? How fast can it go on gasoline and while on electric mode? Can i make long trips in it? like 6 hours max.

I know a bit about it, or at least the Australian version.

It does use gasoline as well, as it is not fully electric. The electric motor powers the car at speeds below 50-60 kph, and at higher speeds the regular engine kicks in as well. Apparently it changes very smoothly between using both engines and just the electric one, you hardly notice it. Not sure about its top speed, but it can go well over the speed limit, it's basically on the same level as most standard cars in that respect. A six-hour trip should be no problem.
I think they're all 4-door cars. Never seen a 2-door version.
Apparently the new model has a solar-powered sunroof, which sounds pretty cool.

If you're looking for good economy and environmental credentials, there could be more vehicle options coming out in the next two years, as electric vehicle technology improves.

1st it runs on gas and electric and never needs charging as braking and just running charges batteries, It can run on one or another but not recomended. They go 120 and their are no 2 doors or sunroofs. It goes 48 on highway and 52 in city. It has synergey drive and is only real hybrid as Toyota has rights to parts needed to make a hybrid. the rest arte gas with electric boost. like a golf cart takes off, the batteries give torque to take off not using much fuel. Gets no where milage a Toyota does and is waste of money. Recently Toyota sold 30,000 batteries to Nissan to build another Prius factory in US. Batteries have 8/100,000 warranty and have never seen go bad and if after 8 uyears 1 does they cost what a normal battery does.
