hello all.

I have a three and half year old little boy who was born with a hole in his hart, and had problems with dairy foods, he is a very happy little boy but always seems to have something wrong with him from a rash to him geting colds and what ever is going round nuresry which the doctors keep telling me it's viral not to worry about it but for past six month has been having nose bleeds wich aren't small they can take upto an hour to stop, but yes he also has small ones. he can have anything from one a day upto about 3-4 and this sometime 3-4 times a week, but to top it off now he's bruises really easey now all he has to do is nock in to things and he's got one he looks like he beat up he's gone a yellowish colour with dark ring round his eyes, but he sleeps lots so shouldn't have them.

I would be grateful if any one has any ideas what can be corsing it as i now have to wait for appointment to come throw for blood test and i'm going out my mind with worry, i keep thinking one day his nose might not stop bleeding.

Your little boy sounds so much like me at that age.

I was always sick and had nose bleeds. One time I even fainted at the dinner table. This started happening for me at age three. My parents took me from one cardiologist to the other. They discovered that one of my valves was not working correctly. At age four, I had an artificial heart valve put in. I am 51 now. I have only had one round of severe nose bleeds since and that was due to spending two weeks in mid-summer in a desert climate (dried me out too much).

Back when I had my problem, they did not have the technology we do now (MRI, CT, ultrasound), so hopefully you can get him diagnosed and treated quickly. If the hole has not been repaired, it seems you would need to get it done now.

The hole is an indication, like my problem was, that he has a congenital heart defect and it might be possible he has other problems in that area, too.

I wish you speed and success in getting him help and let us know how he continues to do.

Lindaru :)

Please take your little boy to the doctor for some blood tests. I don't wish to alarm you, but his symptoms are indicative of leukemia. The positive news is childhood is leukemia is very treatable. God bless and please stay in touch and let us know what you find out.
