Any idea?

I'm just curious what would make the outside of the throat a little tender? Sometimes I feel tenderness or a mild type pain when I yawn or my ears are bothering me. Anyone have any ideas what would cause the tenderness in that area? It's more closer to being right under the chin. Thanks!!

Believe it or not I have that as well! My spit glands are swollen, as I just found out from my ENT doctor. You could have some swollen glands. I was surprised to find out how many glands that we DO have...wow.
If you are concerned, get a check up with your doctor. I feel that pain when I yawn as well. These "odd" little things are sometimes nothing and sometimes a mild infection so get checked it if continues...

So, if you rub your throat up and down on the outside, do you feel a lot of pain/tenderness? Does it hurt when you swallow? Did your Dr. tell you how those spit glands get swollen or what causes that? Is there anything to do for it or does it just have to ride the course and self heal? Do you have any other symptoms with that? Where does it hurt when you yawn? I have been told that I have TMJ so I didn't know if that had anything to do with it or if allergies had anything to do with it or not. Hope you are feeling better!

Yes, TMJ could be a contributing factor to your pain and tenderness on your neck. So could the allergies (mine cause me to get ear aches, which can translate into jaw and neck pain). A doctor's visit may be called for here.
