At sprint tri's, I currently average about 21.3 MPH for rolling to flat courses of 25 miles or less. I am currently riding a non aero i.e. road bike Trek 1500 with ROL Race SL wheels and clip on aero bars. I weigh 165 lbs. Does anybody have any sort of a guess as to how much I might improve with a decent aero bike and wheels? Say for instance a Trek Equinox with Zipp 909 wheels. I'm just wondering if that sort of change would pick up 1 or 2 MPH or if the whole TT bike thing is a bit overrated. For me, 1 or 2 MPH would be a big deal as it would move me from top 10% to top 3% in the races that I do. I know this is not scientific, so I won't hold you to your answers.
Thanks
For clarification, I am not looking for training advice. I am a fairly seasoned triathlete that's just too poor to afford a real TT bike
