I have worked in the field of marketing, public relations and communications for more than 20 years. I have mainly worked at financial institutions, with my highest position being Senior VP of marketing. To be honest, I really don't enjoy what I'm doing any longer. Over the past four years, I have visited many college campuses while preparing to send my sons to college. During this time, I have felt drawn to make a career change to higher education. I have applied to some open positions at a local private college, but I am either over qualified or do not have the right qualifications for higher level positions. With my youngest son graduating from high school this year, I feel this may be a good time to consider returning to school myself. I currently have a bachelor of science in communications. Would earning my master's degree in higher education be of any benefit in transitioning to a career in higher education? If I earned such a degree online would that be a disadvantage? Does anyone in that field have any advice for how I might successfully make such a career change? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
