Any Great Restaurants in the Los Angeles area?

My wife and I are celebrating our 12th anniversary and I want to take her to some place special. Anyone have any great ideas in the Palm Springs area?

We are also planning on visiting the LA area while we are there and wanted to find the great restaurants there also. Anyone have any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
 
First, congratulations on the anniversary!

When we lived there, Redondo Beach, I took my wife to the Queen Mary in Long Beach for our 6th anniversary. I booked a room, which she didn't know about, had it already set-up for the babysitter to spend the night with our daughter and had a great meal in the Sir Winston Restaurant.

Not only did we have a great meal, enjoyed a really different 'hotel' room and had a great all around good time...at some place that was very different.
