The Dark Knight is a must if you've not seen it already.

I haven't seen Mamma Mia but from the way everyone raves about it, it might have some good comedy in it.

I and everyone I know who watched it loved it, James McAvoy is very funny!

I would also recommend Atonement if you're into chick flicks.

The original (made just a year before Hollywood remade it for a population too lazy to read subtitles) is called REC. And it is superb. A mile better than the shoddy remake in EVERY respect. It's sad that you having seen the remake first will ruin some of the original (as you know the story).

Try 'Dark Water'. Again, the original Japanese version. Not the pooey American remake.

I dont think it has ruined it for me, as I actually saw a pirated version, it was hard to see a clear view, I wanted to the original first, but its hard to find it online or any youtube upload.
