We have been asked to choose one or two novels to read and review for our A level english lit

so i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of any good classic novels for me to read as i am stuck for ideas.
I am looking for interesting books that i will easly be able to write something thoughtfull about

no more than 300 pages each book plz

thanks

Ps. Anyone read A Little Piece of Ground by Elizabeth Laird, sounds interesting??

From someone who has read a lot...you want a nice simple one you can affle on about. Dickens is good (oliver twist).

Be careful choosing one of the ones mentioned by other people ithout researching them first. If you dont enjoy the story you wont be able to bare writing about it.

Whatever you do DONT choose Jane Austin. You will never have clue what is going on.

ya try to look up charles dickens book really good books and easy lang and nice, classic novels

enjoy....

Oh boy. I know this one.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

You won't be dissapointed.

Only 186 pages, but a great read.

Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' -lots of thoughtful stuff to write about.
'Of Mice and Men' author's on the tip of my tongue, but ditto on the thoughtful side.
Henry Fielding's 'Tom Jones' - one of the first English novels and a ripping good yarn (not quite so thoughtful [if you mean deep] to write about.

edit: ah, yes - John Steinbeck wrote 'Of Mice...'

Kiko - Dickens? 300 pages? which one?
