They have also written some amazing books about their research
OR
http://www.sawatershed.org
They do work saving local endangered species

I would not go with the bigger organizations like WWF etc. as they already have a steady supply of money..maybe give some of the smaller less well known organizations a chance.

WWF (World Wilidlife Fund) is great for donating to animals and preserving thier natural habitats.
