Any Fans of Meryl Streep?

With the launch of 'Mamma Mia!', I thought I would use this opportunity to praise the divine Meryl Streep. She seemingly can do no wrong, from comedy to the most gut-wrenching dramas.

The woman is a total superstar and my favourite actress of all time. I wonder if anyone here shares in my admiration?

I've only seen Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice, which i happened to watch by accident one day. What an absolutely fantastic performance. Utterly breathtaking. True Hollywood Legend!! I haven't seen Mamma Mia yet but judging by the clips I've seen I'm sure she's going to be fantastic!!

Love her so much.
I think the first thing I saw her in was Kramer v Kramer, and I was very young and thought she was evil because I wasnted Dustin Hoffman to get custody :D
She's such a consistently good actress, I loved her in The Hours, Marvins Room, Adaptation, Bridges of Madison County, Silkwood.
Looking forward to Mamma Mia!

Agreed- love Meryl in every movie I see her in. :)

Just recently rewatched The Devil Wears Prada and adore her in that! :D

Looking forward to seeing Mama Mia- sure she is as fab as ever in it!

She is one of the most talented actresses around in my opinion.

'Sophie's Choice' has already been mentioned and although I found the film sad and depressing, she was superb.
More recently I saw her in 'The Bridges Of Madison County' on TV and again, a superb performance.
Others I enjoyed were -
A Cry In The Dark
The French Lieutenant's Woman
Out Of Africa

'The Deer Hunter' remains one of my all time favourite films. In fact, the only film I thought was not up there with the others was 'Death Becomes Her'

fantastic film imo very underrated, but then i love dark comedies (i know it wasnt really a comedy but theres some absolutely hilarious moments in it)
goldie hawn and bruce willis were great as well

This woman can do no wrong, I love her and have only seen a few of her films.
I love The Hours, it is my all time fav film and she is amazing in it, I watched The Devil Wears Prada for the first time yesterday and thought she was brilliant in that, each time she came on, I loved her.
Seeing Mamma Mia! on Sat, cannot wait!

if you look at her films from late 70s and early 80s, i don't think these days there are many female driven films that do her justice - prada was the only one i can think of and that was mainly just a comedy (albeit with a great performance from MS).

there are no really great female roles around at the moment for her to sink her teeth into. jodie foster is someone else too who is always brilliant in everything she does, though lately she is usually the one good thing in an average film.

what do others think?

where are the 'no country for old men' or 'there will be blood' for women to shine in?
