Any cartoons you want on DVD that aren't?

It's also possible they aired at a time you couldn't catch it. I remember when Ducktales left TDA (when Goof Troop premiered), it was shuttled to the wee hours of the morning in the 6:30 a.m. slot until it left syndication. Rescue Rangers, when it left TDA had been cut down a single weekly Sunday Morning slot the remainder of it's syndicated run.

For me, when a show went from afternoons to mornings, that was pretty much the death of said show because I had to be getting ready for school.

And I want the remaining TDA sets to be completed.

Re-releases of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero boxsets and mini-series with some good special features along with the rest of season 2.

Also M.A.S.K. and the rest of Heathcliff and The Catillac Cats.

Thats a tricky situation. IIRC, Warner Bros. Animation still owns the show Challenge of the Go-bots (by virtue of it being an H-B show), but Hasbro owns the Go-bots themselves. Unless Hasbro sells the dvd rights to their shows to WB (and even then it would be unlikely) then the show will probably remain unseen, though they might be able to release Machine Robo (the anime which was used to promote the machine robo toys, which would be exported to America as the Go-bots).

I'd second a lot of these, but GI JOE and classic Transformers should be AS ORIGINALLY AIRED, not the "improved sound FX" versions Rhino did.

I don't think we're EVER going to get X-men Evo S4...WB seems determined to keep it off the market for some reason...

Beetlejuice and Men in Black: The Series.

I would never have to buy another cartoon boxset if I could just have those released (completely) on dvd.

I believe this whole series was already released in 5 volumes:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/shows/Space-Goofs/3913

Haven't gotten around to buying any of them though. Glad to see someone else mention this. I really liked it -- the animation style was cartoony and comedic (like Bob Camp and John K's stuff) and it had a solid voice cast.

QFT.

There were a couple of "best of" volumes released:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/shows/Bobbys-World/4890

But there are quite a few eps available via Comcast On Demand, as well as viewable online at http://kabillion.com/

I kinda found some of the other characters on the show annoying, and the show itself was a little too kid-friendly for my tastes but I always loved Captain Squash.

S1 is available:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/shows/Count-Duckula/5082

I really liked this cartoon too. I brought it up in the underrated cartoons thread in General Animation Discussion. 3 episodes were released on the Ace Ventura Deluxe Edition" DVD and one of them at least was my favorite episode from the series, but I felt so cheated that they didn't bother to put the rest of the series on DVD while they were at it.

Did you not see the recent news that S1 is being released Feb 2009?

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/shows/Real-Adventures-Jonny-Quest/3491

QFT. I believe there's a really good chance we'll see the entire original Joe series re-released between the time the live-action movie hits theaters and when the same movie's released on DVD a few months later. Since Hasbro got their Sunbow library back it only makes sense that they would do this, and the recent DVD pack-ins with the anniv Joe product just serves to confirm this to me. I just feel it in my gut.

And I have the same feeling about the G1 TF series as the release date for the 2009 feature film draws nearer.

Shout Factory released a Vol 1 set:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/shows/COPS/5680

But it must not have sold very well because it's going on 4 years later with no follow-up releases.

As much as a P&TB purist as I am and as much as the show totally jumped the shark when Elmyra was introduced and as Maurice LaMarche (voice of The Brain) said so well that as far as he's concerned it never happened--that it took place in some kind of weird alternate universe), I still (for the sake of completion) would like to have PE&TB released on DVD. It did have it's moments -- most notably with the Wally Faust/Christopher Walken character whom I thought was very funny, and of course Rob and Moe were still great as always (and their moments together sans Elmyra in the show were still the high points).

Yes, but they are all Region 4 (Pal) releases. Unless you own a region-free player in the US, the madman releases are useless to you.

Of those cartoons that have already been mentioned, these are ones I would also like to see:

  • Earthworm Jim -- This one's easily in my top 3 most wanted cartoons on DVD.
  • Shnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show -- not for the title characters, but for the other two show segments: Tex Tinstar and Pith Possum. They were the real reasons to watch the show.
  • the rest of Animaniacs
  • the rest of Darkwing Duck
  • the rest of DuckTales
  • the rest of TaleSpin
  • the rest of The Tick
  • the rest of the Gargoyles series and spinoff Goliath Chronicles
  • the rest of C.O.P.S.
  • Challenge of the GoBots, and the GoBots Rock Lords movie -- even as much of a TF purist as I am, I still liked this show.
  • Eek!Stravaganza/Eek! The Cat -- It's killing me that I can't watch this show without having to pull out my old VHS tapes or watch low-qual YouTube vids.
  • Transformers: Robots In Disguise -- It appears I dismissed this one too early when it first aired. I'd like to give the series another chance if it ever comes to DVD.
  • Megas XLR -- I missed getting to see this show when it first aired and only caught a couple eps. I liked it enough that I'd buy a DVD release just based on those few eps, but I want the DVD just so I can see the rest.
  • Rocko's Modern Life
  • Static Shock
  • Duck Dodgers
  • The Zeta Project
  • Captain Simian & The Space Monkeys
  • M.A.S.K. -- Region 1 release for US audiences
  • Dexter's Lab -- why one of the first big hits for CN is available on DVD only in Australia and not in the US simply blows my mind.
  • MTV's Liquid Television
  • Beetlejuice -- a few random eps is all we got on the 20th Anniv movie DVD. I hate that cartoons always get the shaft with their live-action counterparts. Like WHV couldn't have released at least an S1/S2 box to coincide with the DVD and BR releases?
  • Taz-Mania -- I guess it will take some kind of live-action Taz feature film to get WHV to release this on DVD. Don't see much hope for it being released otherwise if the sales on cult faves like Animaniacs aren't enough to even get the rest of that series released.
  • Histeria! -- Hey, WHV! How 'bout marketing this one to soccer moms and schools as an educational series? They'll buy it, the show's fans will be happy, and you make more money that way too! Everyone's happy!
  • Kim Possible -- another Disney series that WDHV probably won't ever bother to release season sets for. We'll just keep getting the occasional themed volume releases for the kiddies, and a big "screw you" to the fans.
  • Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures -- Not bloody likely we'll ever see this one released due to the controversy involved, but here's hoping anyway...
  • Time Squad -- If someone at WHV would just realize that this show could be marketed for its educational value, then maybe it will get released. Otherwise, the outlook looks bleak.
  • Men In Black: The Series -- zOMG!!!11!!! WANT THS s0 BADDD!!!!111!!
  • Johnny Bravo -- You know you can't even find some of the classic moments from this show on YouTube, like the Schoolhouse Rock parody? Really want this one on DVD badly, and I'm not buying a region-free player and paying extra to own an import of S1 from Australia. And speaking of, whatever happened to that live-action movie starring Duane Johnson/The Rock that was supposed to be in production?

And ones that haven't been mentioned:
  • DFE productions "Misterjaw" and "The Tijuana Toads" -- I'd much rather have these released on that upcoming Pink Panther and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection rather than the mediocre Roland and Ratfink cartoons.
  • Mad Jack The Pirate -- yet another Bill Kopp classic. FOX could've released this to tie-in with Disney's POTC hype and possibly sold a fair amount, but I guess no one in their marketing dept had the foresight to think of that.
  • Big Guy and Rusty The Boy Robot -- a very underrated and practically unnoticed series that is worthy of a DVD revival.
  • Life With Louie -- Comedian Louie Anderson posted on his official site that a DVD was going to be released in 2006. Must still be bogged down in legal crap with Disney...
  • CatScratch -- a very funny Nicktoon that died too soon
  • Tex Avery Anthology -- I'd actually like to see a whole series of comprehensive collections from the animation legends in the style of the Walt Disney Treasures releases and the LT Golden Collections, but one featuring Tex's classics is the one I want most.
  • Stickin' Around -- Seems like this one wasn't received well by animation fans at the time, but I really enjoyed it -- very simple, unique, and entertaining.
  • The Mask: The Animated Series -- one of Rob Paulsen's top comedic performances that I'd really like to see fully released on DVD instead of just one 2-part ep included as a bonus in a DVD movie set.
  • All the Spy vs Spy and K.L.O.P.S. animated segments from Mad TV on their own release.
  • Looney Tunes: The Complete Daffy Duck Collection -- I would not mind at all double-dipping for a Daffy-only DVD collection.
  • Kablam! -- very funny Nick show that deserves a DVD release
  • Mother Goose and Grimm -- In the words of Family Guy's Brian the Dog, "Whose leg do I have to hump to get this show released on DVD?"
  • Cartoon Planet -- One time, I hired a WHV marketing person to take notes for me in class. At the end of the week, the teacher said, "Class, I want you to release a complete collection of Cartoon Planet on DVD using your notes." The WHV marketing person wrote, "Hi, my name is Bingo! I like to climb on things. Can I have a banana? Eek! Eek!" I got an F. Mom said, "I told you never trust a WHV marketing person!"

Some cartoon series that I would like to see get DVD releases include...

Digimon - Technically, this series had an American DVD release, but it was only the first 13 episodes and the movie that were released on DVD. It would be great to see the rest of the series on DVD.

King of the Hill - Like other people had said, it would be great to see the rest of the series on DVD.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise - It would be cool to see this series released in a DVD set or two, with the episodes that didn't air in America included.

Static Shock - I found this series to be an entertaining super hero show. A volume of this series was released on DVD, but it would be cool to see this series released in season sets, similar to the DVD sets of Teen Titans and The Batman.

I only hope, if G.I. Joe does get a re-release, the episodes look better (not to mention have some good bonuses). I was rather disappointed with the quality of those pack-in discs, though I was really only buying those sets to get the M.A.S.S. Device pieces. But they looked sort of washed out, whereas the Rhino DVDs were very crisp-looking and colorful.

And speaking of the Rhino Joe DVDs, did those suffer from the same kind of sound effects/coloring issues I read Transformers suffered from? The episodes looked and sounded great to me, but then again I didn't have any older copies lying around to compare them with.

I would also love collections of "Darkwing Duck", "Rocko's Modern Life", "Beetlejuice", "Histeria", "CatScratch" (obviously), and "Captain Planet." I would also love complete collections of various "Looney Tunes" characters, such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig (though these three might be too much on their own), Marvin Martian, Sylvester and Tweety, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, etc. though I love having the "Looney Tunes" golden collections as it already is.

Looneytunes/Disneytoons

Wow. The Legend of Calamity Jane is a series so obscure that most people don't even remember it existed. It's gone virtually unnoticed for years, and now it's been mentioned here at Toon Zone twice in one week!

I want:
Rugrats
Kids Next Door
Dexter's Lab
Cow & Chicken
Pepper Ann
the rest of Ed Edd n Eddy

I wouldn't mind:
Time Squad
Robot Jones (only if it had the original voice)
Catdog
The rest of Billy & Mandy

I don't think so, at least regarding the color issues. In most cases they used the "final" product and that of course led to a few issues in what was aired in the first run and what was aired in subsequent runs. For example, in the "There's no Place like Springfield" two parter, the DVD version omits a 3-4 second shot where Shipwreck's "daughter" holds a gun on him, whereas the very first airing showed it. It was only in subsequent airings that they omitted that shot. So it would be nice if they could get ahold of the original, if they could.

Oh, and Rhino also failed to include the first theme song animation. The one included I believe is either the second one or the second season's theme song animation.

No idea about the sound effects. There is a 5.1 track AND a 2.0 track so I assume the 5.1 track has been doctored a bit, while the 2.0 one hopefully is the original.

Still, my Rhino G.I. Joe DVDs look great and I'm happy with them overall. I wholehearted support a re-release though.
