Any authors out there?

I've been thinking of writing a novel for a while, but I'm having a little trouble with ideas. I have one or two, but nothing that feels to me like 'yes, this would make a good story'.

Any tips on where you found inspiration?

well im a manga artist and had the same problewm writing for my manga. however i found that when writing you should write about something you really love, then your passion for it will drive you to the end of the book.
different people write in different ways. some people use the area then live in for inspiration and others(like me) delve into their minds to get inspiration. when im really stuck i ask myself a describe question like " describe a nightmare" or "describe a happy place" and if i feel that i get something successfull from that open my mind and think about how i could use this to make a story for my manga from it. i have come up with a number of different stories using this method.
you could also read and take inspiration from something you love. just remeber that if you hate, for example, action stories, dont write an action story because it will come out terrible. and if you hate gore and blood and stuff, dont write horror because it wont be all that scary.

No, I'm not a published author, but I am a writer. If you want to write a novel, go for it. But be sure you finish it. Not many aspiring authors can say that they've completed a novel--published or unpublished. It's a great accomplishment--one that takes lots of effort. I can't tell you nearly everything about writing, so you need to do research. Either here on YahooAnswers or all over the web. But your question: Finding Inspiration.

There are so many things to write about. Take a walk. But what could happen on that walk? You could overhear a stranger, plotting death. Who's death? A strangers, or your best friends? Why do they want to kill them? There's always a reason. The worst villians are people who kill for the sake of killing. What made them enjoy killing? Think of a nomal scenario, one that happens everyday, and give it a twist. And remember, if you don't have fun writing, your readers won't have fun reading.

ok your ideas may come tommorow they can finally apear in 6 years as it did with me. I just kept thinking and what i relized is I started out with a story and it evolved and kept evolving and in the end it wasn't what I orginally thought of but it was something better. So,don't get dissapointed if you can't think of anything for a while and don't push yourself....that never helped me.

Listen to music....that's how I found my story.

I'm in the middle of writing something at the moment. I got my Inspiration from some of my dreams there Pretty lucid and gory XD

There's plenty of Inspiration out there from dreams to movies. People you know and experiences you've. Try and think up something that no one has done or Pretty much done anyways Bahama

Certain authors say that reading a lot of books should give youInspirationn to, i can relate to that, that is the sort of thing that gets your imagination running :}

Inspiration is really very improtant thnig in the writing... and I feel inspiration can come from your daily life. You don't have to search hard for them... it comes naturally...

I have an Idea here:

You can also get inspiration from a song... I'll tell you how, The song should be like you love it and probrbly by your fav. singer. If it's new it's even good. Just listen to it and let your imagination wander in the direction you want it to... like... a girl meets a boy at... then... etc. go on like that you'll end up making a new story!
