It seems this problem is only happening when i wake up! i wake up feeling like i have a full blown cold with a sore throat and everything....i sneeze get plugged up blow my nose for a half hour then throughout the day i barely get anything! why????

In answer to this and your other post re the ferrets - have you tried an antihistamine? If so, which ones? Normally for animal allergies I suggest trying zytec and for those that manifest themselves upon waking, a benedryl at bedtime as it may be dust mites. Also, does the AM issue occur all year or only in the winter when the heat is on? I have sinusitis in the winter because my sinuses HATE the tbeing on...but I'm so cold natured I have to run it a lot.

I have just started trying an allergy med...this is the first morning that i tried it upon waking and so far even though i am a bit stuffy it does seem to be ok...when they do allergy tests they don't test for ferrets...also i am afraid of needles and would rather live with this than get them or get rid of my animals :) problem started about 6 weeks ago out of the blue when i thought i had a cold...i may have but it was a minor one and i noticed when i hold the ferrets now i get minor red bumps on my hanRAB and also become really stuffy and itchy...my mattress is pretty new i got it this year so i don't know about that, i also notice when i am cleaning my house it hits me hard....i guess i am just having a hard time accepting this when i have gone 37 years with never a problem and always had animals and all of a sudden this comes on! i also had the ferret for 3 years until this started ughhhhh

Forgot to ask is it ok to regularly take allergy meRAB? also i live in canada so we might have different names for meRAB but are there specific ones OTC i should be trying? i just get generic ones with no specification as to what it helps with right now as i thought it was just a lingering cold but would like some help with a non drowsy med also are these meRAB suppose to just relieve it somewhat or completely take the feelings of the allergy away almost like you're not even allergic?

Thank you! i will try them...my thing is sometimes brand names have the same ingredients as generic but if you say a certain one is better i will certainly give it a try! can't hurt right? thanks so much!!

Zyrtec is called cetirizine in Canada (I actually order mine from there as it is much cheaper than here in the states). It should not make you drowsy though it does have that effect on some people so you might want to try it at night at first just to see. It's OTC so you don't need a prescription.

Benedry, I believe, is called benedryl there as well.

Antihistamines will not cure your allergies but should - optimally - control them. And you can take them for the rest of your life...it won't hurt you.

And yes, you can go to bed one night without allergies and wake up the next day with them - or at least it seems that way. But you can all of a sudden become allergic to something that you've never had problems with before.

Good luck.
