I always have anxiety and I worry about everything. I'm also a hypochondriac. Lately I have been having weird symptoms. I have really bad posture and ive noticed that when I straighten my posture it is like a burning sensation in my chest and shoulders and my heart begins to beat harder and slower. I've also noticed sometimes when I'm lying down and get up or raise up I get lightheaded and my heart beats hard and slow. I was just wondering if any other anxiety sufferers are having these symptoms. A lot of times it doesn't bother me. It is like it comes in attacks. And i know it's not my vasovagal nerve or whatever because I'm only 19 and things that are suppose to cause attacks don't like sexual stimulation or hunger and I've never fainted in my life. It seems that it only does it late at night. When my anxiety is the worst. I recently went to the doctor and everything came back perfect. Thyroid tests and everything. Tons of blood tests. And she listened to my heart. I also went to a cardiologist when i was about 15 or 16 from similar symptoms and he said my heart looked perfect. Any ideas?

Anxiety can make your heart beat slow as well as fast. However, I have never heard of pain upon straightening unless someone had scoliosis or arthritis. Try doing some exercises each dayto strengthen and stretch your back and chest muscles! Try relaxing in the tub for 1/2 hour at night. If it continues I would seek out another professionals opinion about how you feel. Are you on anxiety meRAB now? If so do they help this sensation you are feeling?

From what I have heard and researched when you slouch bad and have bad posture like i do it suffocates your heart. I'm currently working on my posture. So I guess it makes sense that when i do that it is a rush of blood to my heart and other parts that my posture is restricting blood to. I also have very bad neck strain and neck problems and it is connected to my shoulders obviously so I'm sure that has something to do with it. And my doctor gave me zoloft but I have decided not to take it due to the time it takes to actually start working and the side effects. The intensity of the symptoms went away once I went to the doctor and was told that everything looked perfect. I remeraber one naught it got so bad my arms went nurab along with my face. That needly tingling sensation and I was very dizzy. It was a bad panic attack. I thought my heart was gonna stop. But a few days later the doctor assured me nothing was wrong and I haven't done that since. Oh and i also forgot to mention that what you said about those muscles makes perfect since. It's kinda like when you lift weights and your muslces start burning. It's like that but not as intense. It's not really pain and it's just a feeling of warmth that runs through my chest but if I hold my straight posture it goes away.

its great to hear these stories because it then puts my mind at rest. I too am a hypochondriac... i have a bad posture and if i sit in certain positions, my heart starts to race (palpitations) then slows right down like its about to stop. its scary! I know its anxiety but at the back of my mind i think, is it cancer, heart attack etc.... but what you have got to remeraber that it is normal and you are not alone... i think the worst bit of anxiety is the de-realisation feeling thats constant

Yes I know exactly how you feel. Being a hypochondriac is awful. Ill feel one different feeling or sensation and think the worst. Like if I feel a different feeling in my chest i will immediately believe that I have a heart condition that is going to kill me. I self diagnosed myself with GAD, generalized anxiety disorder, a while back because i don't need to pay someone money to tell me i have anxiety. Anxiety causes so many symptoms people don't even know all of them lol. And when you are also a hypochondriac you feel these symptoms which may be mentally, psychological, physical, or whatever and you freak out which makes the symptoms worse. It's a vicious cycle. A couple of years ago I overcame this cycle after visiting a cardiologist and he assured me my heart was perfectly healthy. Everything went away. And now it is back again and it is just like before. I'm just trying to get rid of it all. I hate anxiety and everything is causes.

Same boat as both of you. I have had anxiety for a very long time now(years). This last year has been awful, not a day passes that I feel normal. Some hours are better than others, but It is constantly with me. I wake up wondering how I will feel each day. For months it will be stomach issues, then a few months with heart palps etc, then the next month it is neck tension and dizziness. I can't remeraber the last day I felt normal. Being a hypocondriac I believe is a result of the anxiety and associated sensations, not a stand alone issue. You aren't alone on this one.
