I'm 21 years old, and have had anxiety for years. I was on medication, but was taken off of it when I was about 17 because It was found that I had Heart palpatations (PVC'S). I have been able to keep my anxiety under control a lot better, but recently it's been acting up. I get really scared because it's been happening a lot at night, but it's more when I'm going to go lay down and go to bed, not when I'm already sleeping. It can sometimes feel hard to breathe, and I panic because I think it can be a heart attack. Sometimes I feel neck and jaw pain, but it's very mild. I have to been to the cardiologist for my heart pain, and she says I have a healthy heart but put me on a beta blocker. My question is, what is the main differences between a heart attack and anxiety? My symptoms have been going on for days now, and I'm not sure if I should be more worried?

Help :(

Hi I find it odd that a doc would say a person has a healthy heart and then put them on a beta blocker, maybe a second opinion huh? Also has a mono test been done? Any other symptoms at any particular time?

I have PVC's, but when I was diagnosed with them (I was about 17 at the time) my cardiologist said that they are real common, especially in teenage athletes. She said it was nothing to worry about, but I was taken off the anxiety medication as a procaution. I am about to start taking the beta blocker, but I still feel as if I'm feeling symptoms (such as, heart pain, jaw and neck pain, mild but still there) and I just don't feel like myself. I'm just wondering if this can be because of the anxiety, or if there is something greater than the PVC's? I just got an EKG done a few days ago, and all it showed was PVC's. I'm just not completely convinced.

sorry forgot to answer you about the mono test, but no I haven't had one done. She put me on the beta blocker to relieve the symptoms of the pain, but doing research, I have come up to the term called "angina," and I feel as if I have some of the same symptoms. It's hard to figure out if it's the anxiety at a peak level, or something else.

In people with anxiety the top 3 things they fear are dying, going crazy or having a heart attack. I have had anxiety my whole life and I am 29 now. I have had so many heart tests done I can't even count and I am STILL not fully convinced something isn't wrong or something else hasn't developed sicne receiving the tests. This is where anxiety comes in. Someone without anxiety would be thrilled finding out they have a healthy heart and would move on with thier lives. Not us. We need constant reassurance. Trust me, I got diagnosed with PAC's about 7 years ago and here I am, still alive. I also know how frustrating it is to be told "it's just anxiety" because how could anxiety be causing all these symptoms?!?!?! Well, truth is, it can make you feel like you are dying. I get chest pain all the time, pains in my jaw, back, sometimes my face will tingle or my hanRAB will feel nurab...and I have yet to have a heart attack.
