I forgot to take my Nexium this morning. Only have 1 pill left anyway until my prescription runs out, not that I think it has been helping anway. Well, maybe it has helped some because everything felt a little worse today. I was experiencing my normal aching around the breastbone area, stomach tenderness, frequent burping, hiccups, and some chest discomfort. Today however, something else happened. I was standing up at work and it felt as though my heart fluttered for 2-3 seconRAB. It was really weird and has me freaked out.

Lately I've been having what I guess you would say is anxiety. My stomach issues started in August of last year. Had my gallbladder removed in Deceraber and I know am sure that my GB wasn't even the cause of my issues. Anyway, I've been worrying a lot for the past few weeks. Things like is there something seriously wrong with me? Will I ever get back to feeling good again? I'm obsessing over it currently and am having a hard time focusing on much else.

Based on symptoms alone I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and acid reflux over 6 weeks ago by the general surgeon who removed my gallbladder. I look Prilosec for 2 weeks, Carafate 4x a day for 3 weeks, and have been taking Nexium for the past month. I do have an appointment with a gastro doc on Wednesday. Could the weird heart fluttering sensation I felt today be related to acid reflux?....Or do you all think I'm just going crazy?

Hi
I have had GERD for some time and went to my doctor recently thinking I was falling apart due to anxiety (was going through a biopsy to rule out malignancy for another part of my useless body).
Anyway, turned out that I had low blood sodium, which she said had produced all of the symptoms I had thought were due to anxiety. She changed some of my medication and advised me to get my blooRAB done again in ten days.
Just wondered if this might be something that is happening to you too.

Actually, I think everythin is related to anxiety. This is caused by too much stress in your life. For starters, LISTEN to yur Doctor! He knows alot more than we do. However, listen to your body too. If it's telling you you feel worse because you stoppd the medication it's probably the case. Nexium increases the PH in your intestinals thereby reducing acid. Also, you are stressing too much about it and you're going to drive yourself crazy so take a deep breath and relax. That's the first step to recovery!

What a great tip! I just had bloodwork and it was normal except for my vitamin D levels which were a bit on the low side. But some type of metabolic irabalance can certainly create problems in the body like your post illustrates. Thank you for posting. Please post again once you correct the irabalance to see if your symptoms have improved.

Also, hope all your other health problems resolve.

Sweetie I'm Right there with you. I never had anxiety until 4 yrs ago after a DR almost killed me. Ever since I'm so anxious about my health.
I've gotten the frequent hicups and burping too, stomach pains, lumpy feeling in my throat and other stuff. I take nexium too. it helps w/ the heartburn but not so much the other stuff. Good luck at your appt. Let us know what he says. My First appt with a Gastro is in 3 weeks.

Yikes, I'd be anxious too if that happened to me. Never had anxiety before all of this started. I rarely go to doctors. In fact, before all these current issues I hadn't been to a doctor of any kind in almost 6 years. Honestly thought that after the GB surgery that it would fix everything. Now I have the same symptoms plus a few more. I'll keep you posted on what my doctor says. Hope you and I both get to feeling better soon. Thanks for responding.

Sorry, I should have made the low sodium thing clearer - the gp felt that the omeprazole could have been the culprit (I was on 40mg for GERD). Got blood taken again yesterday, will update when I get the results.

Yes please do let us know about your blood work, I too am having anxiety like issues associated with GERD and a hiatal hernia. I also take omperazole but am considering switching to another brand. This sucks, the dizziness and nausea, chest and stomach pain the is always moving around. Everytime I eat i feel like im goig to puke. I am about a month in and cant see a specialist till the middle of April (guess im not the only one with problems). Does anyone else have problems with there arms and legs and even face tingling. I dont know whats coming from the GERD and what coming from anxieties. I am getting pretty upset about it. I wonder if its my heart, I had an EKG and an xray doneband they are all fine. I go for stress/echo next week, my DR says i dont need it and is doing only to ease my mind. I know im all over the place with this. I have lost 10 lbs because its either hard to swallow or I refuse to eat to avoid the miserable sickness afterwarRAB, Any tips or advice would be apprecitated. Also has anyone taken Nexium, it seems to be the next step for me.

I don't have much stress in my life other that my current health situation. My body is telling me that something is not right. I'm sure I'm probably making it worse by stressing over it but I definitely think something is going on. Maybe it's not and this is all in my head but I need answers and preferably soon because I hate worrying about this all the time. The upper part of my abdomen is aching pretty much constantly, it's not severe, but enough to annoy me and keep me thinking about it. I wish I could relax and breathe but until I get definite answers I'm going to continue to have anxiety over this. Thanks for responding.
