Definitely depenRAB on the specific drug and how your body reacts to it! I notice that some have a high chance of weight gain more so than others. I gained weight on Cyrabalta, though not very much. I gained 5-10 pounRAB on it and was taking it for about half a year. Since I had some anxiety/depression related to body image, I decided it was NOT going to work for me as a medication. I was working out a lot and being VERY careful with my diet to not gain more weight, but no luck. As soon as I stopped taking it, I started to lose weight without a problem.
When my anxiety started getting worse again, I talked to my doctor about it, as well as my concern of weight gain. She recommended Prozac. Prozac has a lower risk of weight gain. Some people MAY still gain on it, but many actually lose. My doctor said she hears some of both, but most of her patients stayed the same or lost weight on it. So far I have liked Prozac. I notice that I space out some at times, but I really do better with my anxiety on it, and no weight gain for me. I also have Xanax to take only as needed when my anxiety is worse than usual. I hardly need it. I am considering taking ONLY the Xanax as needed and seeing how I do without Prozac... just because I seem to be doing fine... but if I don't do well without it, I won't hesitate going back! I also notice that yes, it does make me sleepy, but not nearly as bad as Cyrabalta! I take Prozac at night so the tiredness fades off some by morning. Supposedly this makes it a little less effective, but it still works for me!
