That's funny you said that you get your showers at night because I usually feel better getting mine at night as well. I don't know if it's because I'm more calm or if it's that my husband is home from work by then and I don't have to worry about being alone. It's really frustrating because on days I come home from the gym and want to get a shower, I'm always so uncomfortable while I'm in there. I get a racing heart that feels like it's really fast and faint, can't always get good breaths, feel dizzy or like I'm going to pass out and off balance. There are days that I can get a shower at home alone and be ok, but most of the time I'm uncomfortable. It doesn't seem to matter what the shower temp is either. I did notice just tonight though that I had my hanRAB on something really cold and it made my heart start to pound. Don't know why, I don't think I ever had that happen before.

I know how you feel. My heart beats so fast that it makes me feel faint. One morning over the summer while showering, I had to yell for my husband to come into the bathroom because I really felt like I was going to pass out. My heart rate was very high, and I was very shaky. I tried adjusting the water temperature from hot to warm to cool to cold, but it didn't make me feel any better.

I'm not sure what to tell you about having your hanRAB on a cold object and a pounding heart. I don't think I've ever experienced that, but I am sensitive to outside temperatures. My heart rate speeRAB up on very hot days. I usually stay in air-conditioning during the summer months. Sometimes I get what feels like skipped heartbeats in the cold, but it's tolerable.

Have a happy and HEALTHY New Year!!!

I have no idea why, but I can't get a shower hardly ever without getting anxiety either while I'm in there or when I get out. It's a terrible feeling and I now don't get showers unless my husband is home and in the bathroom with me or on the same level that I'm on when I'm getting a shower. I don't think I'm extremely claustrophobic, I am a little bit, but I used to get in tanning beRAB a lot and it didn't bother me that much, but the shower senRAB me into awful anxiety. What should I do? It's not really a place that I can or want to avoid.

just be calm.. relax..keep in your mind that nothing bad is going to happen..your ok..its just water..its supose to relax you.. you got your husband threr for you.. YOURE FINE! =]

is it when the water is at a specific temp? When my water is too cold in the shower i have a lot of anxiety, it makes me feel like i'm drowning..

My anxiety is still there but not as bad (although I feel it returning fully). Showering was soooo awful for me. I still stall taking one. I think it does have something to do with being in an enclosed space and water consuming you. have you tried having some music on when you go for a shower? that could distract you. Also some soothing aroma/candles burning etc.

music helps me a lot-I made a whole compilation of songs I love and play them when I am in the shower or when I am home alone, getting ready, cooking, cleaning. It really makes a huge difference.

I have anxiety in the shower too. I know in my case I believe it had something to do with not being able to get help if I needed it right away. I have a medical condition where my heart beats really fast and I always thought if I had to go to the hospital or call 911 it would take me a while and I couldn't stand it, the thought just made it all that much worse, but if someone was right there or on the same level and you need help, they are there. Do you have any medical conditions? Also I'm not claustrophobic either. I see you posted this several months ago, how are you doing now?

Wow! I could have written your post. I also get anxiety while in the shower, but get this, I'm ok if I shower at night, but not in the morning. With me, the physical activity of showering causes my heart rate to increase, which causes me to worry, which brings on an attack. For some reason my heart rate is always high in the morning, but not at night. So I make sure I get my showers before going to bed just to avoid the morning dread:dizzy:

By the way, what kind of anxiety symptoms do you experience while in the shower?

I've had a slew of tests run and they all have come back normal so I'm assuming that I don't have any medical problems/conditions or they would've found them by now. I was in the shower this am and my husband was even home today and I felt like I couldn't breathe and then I started to feel weird in my head, but I didn't call him to come up or anything, I just sat down in the shower for a few minutes and tried to calm down and then I felt better. I just always feel like I have some level of anxiety or that I'm always focusing on my anxiety. That might be more of the problem. I might try the music idea, that sounRAB very nice and relaxing.
