I would like to see if anyone can help me! It started way back when I had my first daughter and when she was 3 months I had a panic and anxiety attack from no where. Every year I seem to have one during the season of Thanksgiving or Christmas. It turns into constant worrying and then some sort of depression. This time I started worrying about a pain I had in left are where I thought I was having a heart attack. I kept worrying and worrying. I went into a depression episode where I thought I would not get out of. Now I think back to about 8 to 9 years ago in 1998 when I had unprotected sex with one man. I have been married now for 10 years this july of 2009. I had my first daughter in 2000 where they checked for Std's and it was negative. Then I had my 2nd daughter in 2002 where they also tested for std's and it came back negative I know for Hiv there is a window period. I constantly find myself worrying about something! I hate it it can be anything and my mind begins to play tricks on me!

Anxiety is one of the most difficult things to go through. I got a lot of help from this board. In turn, I hope that you find this board equally supportive.

I thought long and hard about what to say, so I'm not going to play armchair physician. There are various anxiety and depression disorders, but most are diagnosed using standardized criteria. Whatever is afflicting you, treatment is available. I will say that heart worries are common. I myself went through this and got an EKG. My doctor then sent me to a psychiatric specialist who has been terrific.

Don't let the HIV thing take over your life. I strongly doubt that you or your children have HIV. Ask your doctor about testing. There is too much misinformation online to that will only confuse us.

I don't know if this will help, but there is no way a test in 2000 and 2002 would not pick up HIV if you actually had it. So basically, you are worrying over nothing, you don't have HIV. There is a 3 month window period, and most people are going to test positive 6 weeks after an infection, and almost 100% by 3 months. The very few who don't have some sort of severely damaged immune system. Which means that if you are here typing this message, then you don't have a severely damaged immune system, and would be lying in bed unable to move. So basically, you don't have HIV. It may be a hard thing for you to believe and accept, but that's up to you to do.

About the worry, I understand the whole thing. I constantly worry about HIV, and always think I have it, but I accept the test when I receive a result. I'm actually worrying about a recent exposure I had recently, so I fully understand the worry.

What I've usually felt helped when I worry about something and think about what ifs is to make a list of what is worrying you, and put down reasons why something is and isn't and accept what is and move on. So in your case, you have left side pain, and you know, that you received multiple tests, all of which were negative, so you can rule out hiv. On the other side, you believe you have HIV because of this pain, explain reasons why this pain is associated with HIV. I bet you can't think of any likely scientific/medical reasons. So by looking at this, you should be able to convince yourself you are HIV negative, and move on from this.

Hope this helps. :):)

hi my name is carole i am only 18yrs old but i know lots about anxiety ,depression ectect......it sounRAB like to me that there may be a case of postraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) this means you may have had a traumatic event that has happened in the past that is now subconsciousy causing you to have the occasional attack ..... think back maybe something happened in your life in the past that had happened around the time of your current anxiety attacks,i would recommend talking to your family physician about (PTSD) and maybe even arrange to talk to a councillor or psychiatrist to find your problem and get to the bottom of it....medication like clonazepam is great for anxiety attacks it works for me good luck i hope this helps.....write back and update me please.
