I still suspect I have anxiety, despite no official diagnosis. But I'm wondering...can anxiety cause problems when I'm not actually actively anxious? For example, I've had issues breathing for about three years, and they haven't worsened or improved. It does worsen when I panic or worry, but needing to take frequent deep breaths or yawning is the norm for me.

Or what about the heart? If I'm not worrying about something, could an anxiety disorder cause things like a light pounding in the heart or increased heart rate just because the anxiety disorder exists?

I'm basically trying to figure out if a person's anxiety is severe enough, does their body eventually interpret stress as its default mode and present symptoms of an anxiety attack even when the person is not worrying or panicking about anything? I still utilize WebMD's symptom checker since I am still without insurance, and every single time I check it, generalized anxiety disorder is in the top five suggestions (the rest are ones I know would not apply to me, like fibromyalgia).

Also, can anxiety cause back pain, particularly thoracic (between the shoulder blades)? Just wondering.
