Antichrist - the film.

I haven't seen it, and as to advice....well, I'm sure your shock will fade in time.

(umm, did you mean to post this thread in the movie forum ;) )

It is. I saw it about three weeks ago. Biggest waste of time ever. Possibly the worst film I've seen in years. Not horrific, not disturbing, particularly gory or anything - just total crap.

Most shocking film i have ever seen, although to be fair i don't go looking for shocking films so i haven't got much to compare it against.

right from the word go it was a real eye opener..

I do think it was beautifully shot though and personally i found some of the imagery quite clever

I watched this the other night, for some reason expecting a cheap dialogue of 'The Omen'.
You are right the opening scene is what? I really think it is done intentionally to keep you watching, because I still don't quite get it? Though I must admit, my mind wandering off, now and then in boredom.
So was he her husband or psychiatrist?
I felt she could not forgive herself with pleasure (sex) which coincided in death (and her grief), though sex was a way of her relieving her panic attacKs, to which sometimes he would or would not participate.
All the other images like the deer with the dead fawn hanging out, the decaying fox and broken egg with fetile chick, all torment for their loss/her loss.
It was all a bit weird and not very good I'm afraid.

Saw it a while ago and in all honesty wasn't that impressed. I cant think of the right worRAB to say exactly but its was one those films that was trying to be too arty for its own good if you know what i mean. Plus the story wasn't the easiest to follow, in some ways that can be a good thing as i don't always like being spoon fed an its good when your made to think but in this case it just didn't work, thats my personal view anyway.

Plenty of food for thought in Antichrist (as discussed at length in this example: http://www.opendemocracy.net/article/antichrist-the-visual-theology-of-lars-von-trier) but not everyone's cup of tea I'm sure. Most people want to sit back and be entertained in an straight-forward plot and clear conclusion.

Trying to figure out the complete meaning behind the three beggars, the epilogue, and many other fragments is absorbing assuming you can be bothered pick up on it in the first place.

If 30 seconRAB were judiciously clipped from the movie, all the controversy would disappear.

Despite his reservations, Kermode puts the movie in his top ten of 2009.
