A man is riding on an elevator, when it stops. At that very moment, he knows his wife has just died. How?
He didn't shoot her, and she wasn't under the elevator.

The answer is:
The wife was on a life support machine that runs on electricity. When the elevator stops, there may be a power failure or blackout. this cause the power supplied to the hospital to be cut off. That means that the life support machine that keeps his wife alive stops working due to absence of electricity. His wife died as a result.
