Another Reason Radioshack Can Kiss My Ass.

At the end of each month, as a Radioshack employee, I am required to drive to the capital of my state to attend a meeting which we are briefed on certain changes to the company and sometimes new products. Our district office is located in Jackson, MS, and it is exactly 180ish miles to get there. So, about an hour and forty-five minutes worth of a drive.

On the 30th of January, me and two other associates drove up there for the meeting, only to be in for a shock. Radioshack, the company that for so long has held on to paying their employees by commission, has now completely taken that away, and is now replacing it with something that they call "Performance Spiffs." Basically, we don't get paid commission wise for everything we sold like we previously did. Now, we are getting paid only for selling certain items. At first when we were told this, it seemed okay. However, the real kicker was when a slide came up on the projection screen showing an LCD TV, followed by the question of "How much do you think you can make off of this LCD TV?" After going around the room and taking answers of what we thought we could make off of it, he changed the slide. The answer was NOTHING.

You mean to tell me, I'm going to sell a 1500 dollar television to someone, and not make a cent off of it? However, I'm still going to have to go through a selling process and follow the rules of your company, actually walk up and greet customers instead of clerking like at Walmart? Now granted, the next slide showed how we could make money off of that TV. However, we would have to add certain accessories to the sale in order to get any kind of profit for ourselves. But tell me, who is going to want to spend another 250 to 300 dollars on high-priced accessories, when they just spent $1500 getting a big ass TV?

I live in Mississippi. The answer is, not that many.

Basically, the whole thing is bullshit. Being told that the most money I'm going to be making is going to be the hourly pay (which sucks)? Right, it's time for me to move on.

I don't like radioshack, go work at best buy. Best buy is the best, i love walking in there because its so cool. It has everything i ever dream of.
