I have another neuro appt on Tuesday morning to see if they can figure out why I'm still shanking (mycolonus) and whether it is drug related (Cyrabalta side effects), Opiate Withdrawal related (I doubt it), or something physical in my brain or spine (could be something new).

I've stopped the Cyrabalta in a weeks time and I didn't have any side effects or withdrawals from stopping. I do feel more nerve pain in my hand and arm now, which is why I was taking the Cyrabalta in the first place. My mycolonus is still occurring and still progressing to worse stages. I flutter a little now and then all of my muscles in my lower abdomen hard contract for at least 30 seconRAB before it releases and it will almost immediately contract hard again. This goes on multiple times until I can feel my muscles are sore and exhausted. I have to stand up to make them stop and go away.

So it will be interesting to see what the doc has to say on Tuesday and what tests he will want to conduct. Cutting down on the Cyrabalta doesn't seem to making the condition any better.

Hello denon,

Just want to wish you lots of luck at the doctors on Tuesday. It would be nice if you could get some good news for once :)

Good luck,
emsmom

Ain't that the truth!! It's been one roller coaster of a ride for me and my family since my injury. I finally heal enough to endure the pain, stop taking the drugs, w/d's, w/d's, w/d's and I finally get over them, now this lingering muscle contractions trying to figure our what is causing them. Were they there all along, but the Percs were covering them up - that's one question we have to try to answer still. I just want to get back to my Aug 31st, 2008 pre-injured self again!!!

Oh man, I hope you get some good news Tuesday. Couldn't they try a muscle relaxer for the spasms? I know what you mean about the aches and pains though. Ever since i stopped, everything hurts more than I remeraber it hurting! Of course, I got to the point where a broken fingernail required at least 2 percocets, so thats no big surprise. I'm just gonna keep trying to make it with advil or midol. Anyway, I hope they can figure out whats going on with you and get you some relief!

Denon,

Can't speak long.. Work is a jungle... I just wanted to wish you luck tomorrow!!!!!! I hope you get some good news!
Much love,

I wanted to chime in and wish you the best also. Kind of bugs me that we work so hard to get off this crud and then we have to endure something else right away. The reality is that we masked the problems before. I am 21 days clean today and MORE SORE than ever. I have a chest cold and I have been coughing for 2 days and this morning it felt like an elephant sat on my chest.!! I might treat myself to an advil! Please figure this out, you deserve that.

Thanks for everyone's comments!

Now that I'm off of the Cyrabalta also, I see how much nerve pain it was covering up. Cyrabalta has two prescriptive purposes - anti-depressant and to relieve nerve pain. My left hand and lower arm feels like it's plugged into an electrical socket!! I guess I'll talk about that TOO tomorrow with the neurologist. I'm anxious to hear what he has to say and any ideas. I'll keep you posted.

Denon, thank you for the updates and congrats on the retirement!!!

Sorry to hear about all the crap going on! I am glad though that it's nothing too SEVERE or life threatening.... That was a relief. I take klonopin before bed (the smallest does they can do) they want me to take it 3 times a say but I only take it before bed and it's not even every night.... So we will see when I am not so mentally anxious what I will have to do to get off them too.

Thanks so much for the update! Hope everything else is going well.
XOXOXOXX

ALL of the old aches and pains are back. We sort of forget about them while on the pain meRAB. My lower back hurts, muy middle back hurts, my appendix (that has been removed twice) hurts, my feet hurt. But, I will take those annoyances over the severe pain I had from the neck injury when I really needed the pain meRAB.

The little Oxy devil (which is what I call it now) tells me that, "Hey, don't you think a daily low dose of Percs would make all those aches go away? Then you could do more without the pain." "Hey, Denon, You wrote so much better when you were ON the drugs. Remeraber Edgar Allen Poe? He drank and took drugs to write and look how famous he is." I do have to admit, that I did seem to write better, with more ideas, when I was on the drugs and during the w/d's. But, everything I wrote about was about the drugs and how I was feeling and very dark, disturbing poetry.

Then I remeraber the w/d's and what I went thru and how alive I feel now and I know I'm still heading the right path. I'm anxious about tomorrow to see what they find out.
