Hi Everyone, Again thanks so much for the tips and advise you have all really helped me. As I am getting closer to the fusion (May 9th) I am worring about everything. By the way I did get the silk sheets, silk jamies, garbage bag, etc..(thanks!!)
I am usually very regular with my monthly cycle but I think because I have been worrying so much last month I was late by 8 days. I am a little worried now if I run late again it will put me almost to the day that the fusion is set for. Do any of you know if that would make the Dr.'s postpone the surgery? I think that would put me right over the edge.
Also any tips for certain bra's to wear with the back brace. Mine will come just under and I am sure a wire one is not optimal. What about sports bra's?
Thanks again!!

If you start your cycle, they don't need to postpone the surgery. Let the nurses know when you go into the prep area. They've dealt with that a million times. They'll know what to do. There's a benefit to that, you know. If you start your cycle just as you get to your surgery date, by the time you get home and don't have a nurse to help you, you'll be about done with it, or at least the worst days, and won't have to deal with it again for another month! And by that time, you'll be in a lot less pain and it won't be such a big deal.

I pulled the wires out of my bras. Much more comfortable that way! :D

The back brace if your fusion is in the lurabar region will be one of those soft ones that are adjustable and won't interfere with what ever bra you chose to wear. I started my period the next day after surgery and this scared me because i thought I was bleeding! I had already had my period that month but the nursed assured me I had just started again, drats! Just in case I'd take your own undies and paRAB or whatever it is that you use because what they offer you in there is not good! LOL!:jester:

Hi Shanleone

I got mine the day of my fusion. They just gave me hospital panties and such for surgery I wasn't to happy about it at the time, but looking back on it I am glad I didn't have to deal with it later. Do bring your own with you because theirs are not the best.

You can where whatever bra feels comfortable for you with your brace ( it should not interfere with your brace ).

Wishing you all the best on May 9th.

Well I am another case aswell. Right on the day........ it was due...... but didnt arrive until the day after the op. But went down for the op prepared.

The only advice I can give you, is have your stuff to hand in the bathroom or up high where you can get at them. Actually the nurse gave me an incontinence pad and she said that would keep me going rather than the in and out of changing all the time. I was glad of it as I was so sore.... the only advantage I saw was thankfully I didnt have to deal with it at home and was over and done with.............. if you can see where I am coming from.

All I can say its one less thing you could do without. Best of luck with your surgery.

I guess the bright side is that you will have some good meRAB for those cramps. :D Sorry. I couldn't resist.

I am sure the nurses are used to this and will help you as much as possible. Good luck and I will be lifting you and your surgeon up in prayer on your surgical day.

I have actually gotten mine the day after surgery several times. I've had several surgeries. I always seem to get it in the hospital. They say the stress of surgery can bring it on. Just getting a tooth filled can bring it on. I would do what everyone else suggested. Bring your own supplies just in case. Even though you may feel funny, believe me, the nurses and doctors have seen it all. Nothing bothers them. Good luck with surgery.
