This morning was actually going pretty well. I had gone over to my buddy Jeffs house to set up for what was going to be one big ass barbeque. At about 11am (PST) this morning, she called Jeffs in a panic. Our dog Haley which we've had less than a year ran out of the back yard and when my wife found her she was stiff as a board. There was no blood so it didn't look like she got ran over or anything, but something was seriously wrong. So I told her since we have no funds until the second, to go over to the vet here in Lakeport and set up a payment plan.
I continued going about what I was doing, and then after about a half hour I had to make a trip to the john. I was in there and got done when I realized there was no TP. I came out to get some more and that's when I saw my wife sitting in the chair bawling her eyes out. I came over and asked what happened. She said that the dog actually did get ran over on the lower half of her body. Her hips were broken and the spine was actually seperated at the hips (which explains why she wasn't yelping in pain, she couldn't feel down there). So in the end our dog had to be put to sleep.
So, now I know that I'm gonna have to get a new dog since this one was actually a Christmas gift for my wife last year. The only thing that sucks is that I would figure that with my wife at her age, she wouldn't be so broken up about it. I mean with the way I was raised, dogs and cats were there as companions. And yes it did suck when they died, but when all is said and done you can move on and go out and get another one if you need it. I dunno, I guess some people just get themselves more attached to animals than they should.
