Another Boot Camp Letter Question?

Okay, so my fiance is a recruit in USMC boot camp. I am getting a letter together so that I can send it as soon as I receive his address.

I know to send it in a plain white envelope with no doodles etc., but my question is about the content of the letter. I was thinking that along with my personal, handwritten, upbeat, positive, I'm so proud of you letter I would like to also send a fun "newsletter" in the same envelope. I'd include jokes, inspirational quotes, song lyrics & any positive current events I come across in the news.

I've made the template already & have included clip art on this newsletter. I was also planning on printing it on white paper, but with colored ink. Do you think this would be okay, or should I omit the clip art, print it in b/w & just keep everything plain?

PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE USMC EXPERIENCE. Thank you!!
Hey thanks for the advice! I'm not concerned with it being confiscated, I just don't want him to have to "pay" for it, if you know what I mean :)

Sounds like I'm in the clear though...Thanks Again!

i know you said only USMC experience, but i thought i would just throw some advice towards you any. my husband is in the navy, and went through bootcamp in sept 2007. he was allowed to receive pictures and drawings from our children, along with my letters. the USMC and Navy are pretty similiar as far as rules go, so i would think it would be okay for you to do something like that. it might be nice for him to get something "upbeat" to read instead of plain old black and white letters. i think its a great idea.

worse case senerio, they go through his mail, and if he cant have it, they just take it away... but as long as its not with profanity, semi-nude, or nude things, there shouldnt be a problem.

good luck to the both of you! and thank you!
