Another BEV price increase?

A discussion as to how or if a charge is regulated would be pertinent to a price increase.

If you were billed in December for January or future services, then it's the correct tax treatment to bill at 6% GST, not at the reduced rate.

Sorry to hear you're leaving Nimiq_1. You have a sane voice and make a terrific reality check (as did/do you DirtyJeffer).

I guess there's be no word about specific increases yet? I wonder if the $1 increase put in in Sep (for the US nets but you can opt out) is a measure of things to come. You'd think at some point the HD programming pack will go up in price; maybe split it in two parts -- broadcast vs. specialty.

A $9 credit is an insult and a joke. Besides who is to say you will actually get your credit? Twice I was promised PPV credits when I had issues. Guess what? Neither ever materialized and it was not worth the trouble and aggravation to queue up on the phone to fight for them. The wait times are less than they used to be but are still a hassle.

Even if you call in and close your acoount you have up to 30 days or so before your service is cut off, so if they don't make you a offer don't worry. They may call you back with a offer, or you can call back and say you changed your mind.

Bell has a history of incorporating these network charges into the regular price only later to be reinvented as a"new network" or "regulated" charge.

This question has been floated ever now and then around here lately: The 8300 has been around for quite a few years (the 8000 SD even more so). What are the chances there's a newer, better HD PVR coming down the pipeline? No news that I heard of. And since MPEG4 is coming in sometime in 2009, I guess you have to wager that your BEV PVR will be out of date before Rogers stuff does.

But I thought I recalled reading on the BEV website on their equipment page that the latest model HD PVR *was* capable of obtaining MPEG4 (?).

cable/satellite fees are becoming absolutely ludicrous these days, especially considering TV isn't half as an important medium as it used to be. Bell's average sub is now paying $60/mo !?! To be fair, it isn't exactly any better on the cable side of things, but not much worse either. Also, considering how badly broken BEV's picture quality is recently, they're giving everyone more reason than ever to go elsewhere. Find a True Alternative..

the only charges on your bill that you cannot remove are the 911 and touch tone. Those are regulated charges, not bogus charges.
The 'real + ld plan' for example is over 8 years old. it's an old LD plan from the late 90's, which can simply be removed.

Nem, who had that plan, once upon a time

i am still curious what will happen to all of us that have MPEG2 receivers when they switch to MPEG4...i would like to think they will sub them out, but after some of the other crazy things the company has done, it wouldn't surprise me if they simply asked us to buy them outright, offer some "deal" where you get x months free rental with trade in, or a "trade in price" of some sort...if they are changing their system to make existing subs incompatible, they better pony up free hardware or a mass exodus of customers will revolt and cancel.

What kind of mesage? On the machine when you are waiting?

Or at their info channel?

Better than nothing taught...

I often saw PPV credits not been applied...
PPV credit are tricky...
When they give you, let's say 3 FREE PPV they have to remove one of the theme pack, close the transaction, then open a new transaction add the theme pack with the discount code 3 FREE PPV. Lots of agents don't know this and it took me a few month before they explained it to me.
When you request a credit, because let's ay, you coudn't see the movie du to weather condition, ordered the wrong event, says you never ordered the event, they have to open a billing form. Often the billing form won't accept the event code, an agent will take down the number to do it at a later time and confirm to the client it has been done. Problem is memory often forgets and credits is never applied!

A little compensation for the credits you didn't get. Go to:http://www.bell.ca/support/PrsCSrvTv_TenAnniversary.page?form=B&EXT=XVU_OT_Q4_rewards_RM_URL , fill the form and get 3 FREE PPV!

DTV does not have any access, digital, or blahblah fees.
Hell, my dtv sub is from NY and has no taxes state or federal. The price you see is the price you pay, the way it should be.

Any time I have checked $58.97 plus fees plus tax , rogers are $1 or $2 more expensive than expressvu.
I would like to "find the alternative" where watching all those commercials pays for the TV I watch.

They will make an offer. They called me every day for two weeks leaving messages after I cancelled.
