Another APES INSTALL gone bad thread

I just installed my 10" PYO monkey bagger bars.
And of course i have an engine light, throttle is a touchy and the cruise is not working. Ive read a lot of threads about this same thing. What i need to know is what is the black plug that is connected with the green TBW plug?? It was connected at the handlebars but not under the fairing that i remember, is that the cruise by any chance and i didn't connect it under the fairing? I'm going to cut out the green plug and just soder the wires, at least for now. Maybe i'll get the screaming eagle plugless TBW harness if that doesnt work.
I love the way these bars feel when riding! Perfect height for me at 5'9" and i diddn't need to extend any wires or cables, everything fits great!
I'll get some pics up after i get everything figured out but i'm to frustrated to take some now, i'm going to bed to re-cock and i'll try again in the morning.

the black plug you are refering to is for heated grips. check for pinched wires if u marked all the wires right you shouldnt have any problems. but if u pinched wires thats your problem. i just installed 17 inch carlini eval bars this past weekend and no issues at all didnt need to solder any wires. if you didnt pinch any wires then u have to get back into your wiring harnes and retrace all over again. and i would recommend buying a new TBW unit cuz it is longer then the stock one. hope this helps.

sorry to hear about your troubles....interested in hearing the solution..also VERY intereste in seeing pics....i'm seriously considering the same bars.
i'm only 5'7...and i don't want grips over the fairing.....
good luck man.

So your saying i just wired my bars for heated grips as well?
Might be something i would like to look into this winter.
I really don't want to have to re wire the bars, but if i do the heated hand grip wires will be gone. Wish i would have know that. I'll play around with it and see what i can find.
So the cruise is part of the wire cluster that i ran with the big plug?

Before you take everything apart, unplug the connector and look inside to make sure all the pins are fully inserted/seated in the molex connector. Second check to make sure all the wires are in the correct location in the plug. Third, I would disconnect and reconnect the battery plus clear any codes that might be showing on the speedo. You may get a code that will point you in the right direction for your problem. Of course if none of that works, you will need to pull the wires and see what went wrong. Let us know what you find, it may be helpful to the next guy do this same mod.

+ 1 for cyclone. I could be wrong but I see mention here of heated grips, and from my understanding if you wire the bars internally, don't think you'll have enough room for the heated grips. Both wild1's website and the HD catalog and website both say this. Get yourself a manual if you don't already have one and do what cyclone said.

if u buy a new TBW harness it will work for heated grips cuz its longer. the plug comes out of the bottom hole on the bars.and then u run another wire from the left grip which will come out from the bottom hole on the bars. find a power switched wire and your done

Initially, when I was installing the same bars on my bike.... I did noticed that looking inside the bars, the edges in the inside corners seem to be very sharp for those two wires for the TBW.... So, I ended up appling more tape for insolation on those wires to protection.

I'll give this a shot, it sounds a lot easier for now. How do you clear the codes with out a code reader? With my truck i just pull the pcm fuse and turn the ign. to run/ not start and wait a few seconds and the codes clear. Any chance it's the same or do i need a reader to clear them?
