Another 3 MUMMY movies still to come!

a report on bloody-disgusting.com is claiming that there is still another 3 mummy movies to come! bringing the total to 7 (if you include the scorpion king).

the 3rd officail mummy called THE MUMMY : TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR will be released later this year with another 3 movies to follow!

here is the article!

Unless of course The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor bombs n August 1 (which is won't), Universal Pictures is planning three more sequels to the film, with new leading lady Maria Bello set to topline. During an interview posted online this evening she not only reveals the plans for the sequel, but also explains where the next film will take place! Read on for the skinny.

After a long hiatus, one of cinema's greatest archaeologists is making his way back to the big screen. But if Rick O'Connell's leading lady looks a little different, it's not the age: It actually is a different person.

And that suits Maria Bello just fine, the actress told MTV News, saying she was eager to step into the role of Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell, made famous in the first two "Mummy" films by Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz.

"Let me tell you, I like the other two movies. I love this movie," Bello said of "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" from the blue carpet at the Independent Spirit AwarRAB. "It's so dynamic and like nothing you've ever seen. [Director] Rob Cohen has so changed the franchise." The biggest change of all, of course, being Bello herself.

The blond actress understanRAB that comparisons to Weisz

Too jokey to be great.

Hope they up the sense of wonder and make the humour subtler. A little less ham from the supporting cast too.

I'm really looking forward to the franchise focusing on their teenage son now. Along with his braclet. I think they will create a destiny for him, along with trials to prove himself to be the 'One'.

Why does the Rick character always have to fight mummies?
Oh well, if this and Indy do well perhaps someone will stump up the cash to make a movie of the Uncharted PS3 game.

I predict the new Indiana Jones movie will destroy the Mummy sequel at the box office this summer.
And the Mummy's boys might have to re-think their franchise plan.

Well it's coming out two months later than Indy so I can't see any competition as such. Infact Indy might give some audiences an appetite for more adventure type stuff.
Even if it's bad, reviews seem to have no effect on box office these days.

"I think Rachel is so brilliant, and she was beautiful in that part, but they wrote my character so differently, I felt like it was a totally different woman," Bello said. "She has the same name, but she's quite a different character."

Well that's not very encouraging and poor work from the writers. One of the best things about the other films (the first in particular) is Evie's sweet if sometimes stuffy charm and she managed to retain that even when she got more mature and confident in the second.

I'm glad that Maria Bello is getting some roles - she is gorgeous! I remember her playing a doctor in one of the ER series a while back and then she disappeared for a while, before playing Johnny Depp's estranged wife in "secret window."

However, as for a further three Mummy films coming... WHY? In my opinion, they should have left it with the Mummy, and the spin-off, the Scorpion King. That was enough.

Still, I suppose it will do well.
